General Purpose EMAT Guided Wave System
Capable of unmatched control over guided waves with our selection of transducers.
From 10s of KHz to many MHz Guided waves are useful for tubing plates and other thin structures.

750 ºC EMAT measuring velocity and internal damping in steel

The EMAT performs well at high temperature.
As long as the sample conducts electricity the EMAT can generate and receive acoustic waves.

Material Property Measurements
EMATs are well suited for high resolution acoustic measurements.  Velocity or attenuation can be measured with extreme accuracy because the EMAT couples directly to the sample.  There are no extraneous errors from couplant as with piezoelectric transducers.  The non-contact EMAT measures displacements in the metal substrate directly, nothing else comes between the EMAT and the sample.
The EMAT is therefore one of the best method for material property measurement.  EMAT generated elastic waves flex the material and the response can be directly measured by an EMAT to extremely high accuracy.  Material Properties such as:
• Stress and Strain
• Youngs Modulus,  Shear Modulus
• All 9 elastic constants can be measured acoustically
• Hardness
• Layer thickness of different alloys: aluminum cladding, stainless cladding etc.
